The objective for starting a Men of Faith weekly group should be based on a growth.
First it should encompass men who need to grow in the Word, developing a more rounded understanding of the Scriptures. In our instant society of today you cannot get enough ‘meat’ during the usual worship and praise service in most churches. If we can add an hour or so a week this would be fantastic. Mentoring a young believer to become the next moderator or challenger of a new group is exciting. Encourage men to be in their Bibles daily.
Secondly growth in fellowship should be a goal. Men need camaraderie, community and commitment. Too often men take on a ‘lone wolf’ attitude and become benign in their walk with the Lord. It should encompass men from other church groups and denominations. This promotes a clearer awareness of the community and unity of the men as they rub shoulders with others of similar faith. When men get involved in the community it is noticed and that will bring about opportunity and growth.
Thirdly growth as a ministry should always be on the table. Growing in numbers can only be good when dealing with the spiritual growth of men provided that it is Spirit led. It could be to start another group in your city, or an adjacent town. You may want to start monthly Men of Faith breakfasts or to plan a retreat at a nearby camp or a Father/Daughter banquet or a Father/Son fishing trip.
