Annual events that bring men from the local community together for a retreat to a camp with special speakers, a Father-Daughter banquet or other such activities.
Leadership: A man who has a heart for doing a retreat, large breakfast or banquet should gather around him a steering committee to take care of the various logistical tasks. For instance one man takes the lead on the program, another takes the lead on food, the third takes the lead on a suitable venue and so on.... Venue/Date & Time/Cost: Early on the steering committee must give the event a name, estimate the number that will be attending, locate a suitable venue that is available on the preferred date. A budget for venue, speakers, food, program, cleanup and scholarship should be put together and arrive at the cost for an individual ticket. Logistics: Setup of the venue by ministry volunteers helps to keep the cost down as well as providing involvement opportunities. Don’t forget to have volunteers assigned to do the tear down and cleanup.
Promotion: Distribute posters to local churches and businesses that say what the even is, where, when, who should attend, what it costs and who to call for more information. Other promotional areas include web sites, mass e-mails, post cards, bulletin inserts, church announcements and local radio stations. Be sure to use more than one for of communication to reach the potential audience. |
