Moderator: The group needs a ‘front man’.
Ø He will be spiritually mature, demonstrating through his own life that he is a mature Christian.
Ø He may have gone to seminary or a Bible college or school but it is not necessary.
Ø He will be a faithful student of the Bible, whatever his formal education, ‘rightly dividing the Word of Truth’.
Ø He will have attained the respect of people in the church, community and his home.
Ø He should be able to teach with a deep understanding of God’s Word.
Ø He will have a vision to see men grow in the Word.
Ø He will prayerfully consider the topic and direction of the weekly discussion.
Ø He will be flexible to the needs of the men. If a man has something else on his heart, and it appropriate to discuss in the group, then that should be done.
Ø He will set the boundaries of the discussion, keeping it relevant to everyone and away from disruptive or divisive or irrelevant tangents.
Ø He will see the potential in the other men and draw them into the discussion.
Ø He should mentor another man to step into his position, either in that group or preferably in a new group.
Ø His foremost motivation is to see men grow in God’s Word.
His spiritual gifts will include some of the following:
· Able to teach
· Discernment
· Exhortation (encouragement)
· Administration
· Shepherd (pastor)
