The group needs someone to challenge the men attending bringing out the truth of Scripture.
Ø He will have a good grounding in the Scriptures and be able to find cross references to support points put forward.
Ø He will be a maturing believer, demonstrating through his life that he is maturing in the Lord and active in his local church.
Ø He should aspire to teach as he will be the go to guy when the moderator cannot be there.
Ø He will bring forward points that challenge the attendees to live a more sanctified life by reinforcing the discussion with Scripture and poignant stories.
Ø He should be able to say “What do the Scriptures say?” and back it up.
Ø He will keep the moderator accountable. He will discern where the group is and keep the topic going that way.
Ø He will exhort (admonish & support) a brother when necessary in an encouraging way.
Ø He will be careful not to offend a brother by being too strong or heady. He must not get to the point where he is occupying most of the discussion time.
Ø He will allow the moderator to take the points of emphasis where he is lead.
Ø He can be a mentor of the moderator.
Ø He is a very important part of the study time and vital to a healthy group.
